PROGRAMME:
Regulatory Change in Motion
The session began with a government and legal update, focusing on the current state of flux in pensions regulation. The government is proposing changes to minimum contribution rates for existing operational schemes, including a move towards calculating contributions on gross pay rather than basic pay. As many schemes await final regulations, this update will outline what trustees need to be aware of, the potential impact on scheme design, and the steps boards should consider taking now.
Cyber Threats Facing Pension Schemes: From Oversight to Action
We then moved on to cyber security and the increasing risks facing pension schemes. Cyber incidents can affect advisers, administrators and trustees, with significant consequences for members. This session explored what trustee boards should be looking for in terms of cyber governance, how to assess preparedness, and what actions to take if a cyber-related incident occurs. Particular focus will be given to how trustees should respond if an administrator is hacked, how to support affected members, and the practical and reputational issues members may face following a breach.
The session concluded with practical insights into what trustee boards should be doing now to manage regulatory uncertainty and strengthen cyber resilience.
