Chairperson:

Thomas Groffmann, Principal Director Reserve Funds for Pensions and Social Security, European Patent Office

Details:

Elevated inflation may likely come down in 2023 in most developed market countries. However, it looks like the aggressive monetary tightening of the Fed and other central banks may lead to increased risk of a recession in some regions. Therefore, what can pension funds do in terms of their strategic asset allocation and how will this impact them?

Our Speakers will discuss and debate inflation/interest rates and consider:

  • What happens to inflation and the practical implications for your fund considering asset allocation?
  • Can pension funds really take an active position on the outcome for a soft or hard landing?
  • What are the tactical and/or strategic opportunities or is it just a case of managing the risks in markets as best you can?
  • What is the impact of rising interest rates, especially at the long end of the curve?
  • What hedging or interest rate protection strategies should you put in place?
  • Is there a silver lining and will it reduce your pension fund liabilities?
  • What is the case for real asset now and which ones should you be considering including Real Estate and Infrastructure in this environment?
