Chairperson:

David Adkins, Head of Investment Strategy, Lloyds Banking Group Pensions & Investments & Member of PMIF Advisory Committee

Details:

We aimed to show you some of the private market opportunities for investment in ecological transition and carbon reduction.

The speakers focused on infrastructure investments in renewables and the energy transition as well as technological efficiencies such as smart grids. We also looked at opportunities in the maritime sector to address environmental and climatic changes. Case study experiences from LPPI/GLIL will further help institutional investors understand the opportunities and difficulties of investing in this area.

As pension funds are learning how to disclose climate related risks, this seminar showed some of the opportunities for investment in climate change transition in different private market asset classes. What are the opportunities for investment and how can they be accessed by pension funds of different sizes, or through different strategies? What are the difficulties and potential pitfalls of such investments and how transparent are climate related risks for investors in private markets?
