Date:

24 June 2021 13:00 to 14:30

Venue:

Virtual Forum Seminar

Chairperson:

Barry Kenneth, Chief Investment Officer, Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and Member of the PFIF Advisory Committee

Details:

With the rise of broad Fintech and other technologies such as blockchain and AI amongst others, are they an opportunity or a threat to the fund management ecosystem and hence what are the implications for pension fund returns, investment opportunities, risks and costs? Given the high volatility of Crypto-currencies, can or should these be considered seriously as an investment opportunity or play a hedging role in pension fund portfolios? We will explore such innovations as Big Data, Social Media, Blockchain, Cognitive Computing, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence/Robo Advice, Crypto-currencies amongst others, to understand just how these impact both front and back offices for pension funds and fund managers.
