After lunch, the Main Seminar will start with a debate on inflation and then follow with presentations on some practical considerations for your portfolios:

Part I – The Ongoing Inflation Debate – What’s next: a Hard or Soft Landing?

  • Elevated inflation will likely come down in 2023 in most developed market countries – however, can the Fed and other central banks’ response and policy, engineer a hard or soft landing and what can pension funds do?
  • Can pension funds really take an active position on either outcome?
  • What are the tactical and/or strategic opportunities or is it just a case of managing the risks in markets as best you can?
  • What is the good, the bad and the ugly side of inflation?

Part II – Inflation – Practical Implications for Your Pension Fund & Portfolios

  • What is the impact of rising interest rates, especially at the long end of the curve?
  • What hedging or interest rate protection strategies should you put in place?
  • Is there a silver lining and will it reduce your pension fund liabilities?
  • How can you communicate the impact of inflation and its outcome on retirement income to members?
  • What is the case for real asset now and which ones should you be considering?
