VFM stands for both Value for Money & Value for Members – Is there really a difference and what do you have to do in practice?

Date:

15 November 2022 11:45 to 14:30

Venue:

Pewterers’ Hall, Oat Lane, London EC2V 7DE

View in Google Maps

Chairperson:

Matthew Webb, Global Head of Benefits & Mobility, London Stock Exchange Group and a Member of the MPPF Advisory Committee

Details:

At this Seminar, we will consider the concept of ‘value for money’. How do you ensure you meet your legal obligation to assess value for members and fully understand the elements that contribute to the value your members get from your pension scheme? How will both the FCA and TPR align their own thinking on what is considered value for money or value for member? With FCA largely talking about value for money and TPR about value for members, how do they differ and on what should trustees focus?

Our speakers will address:

  • What tools do trustees need to assess the concept of ‘value for money’?
  • What can managers and other service providers do to provide further transparency on costs, charges and service to help trustees understand they are providing value for money?
  • What is the appropriate level of charges for DC schemes?
  • Are lower charges always better?
  • Are fees for active management justified?
  • What governance framework should trustees and schemes have in place to better understand total costs within funds rather than focusing mainly on headline Annual Management Charges (AMC)?
  • Are deferred members getting value for money?
  • What does the proposed removal of performance fees from the Charge Cap calculations for default funds, mean for assessing VFM?
