Diversification in the Current Low Yield Environment: Are there any real diversifiers out there today?

Date:

10 November 2016 10:00 to 17:00

Venue:

Hellerup Park Hotel, Strandvejen 203, 2900 Hellerup, Denmark

Chairperson:

Henrik Olejasz Larsen, Chief Investment Officer, Sampension A/S

Details:

Diversification is said to be one of those investment ‘free lunches’. What does diversification mean today and in practical terms? Are there any asset classes that will provide real diversification for pension funds given that QE has effectively distorted the risk free rate and pushed many schemes into alternatives and higher yielding assets at expensive valuations? Does diversification work and if so under what circumstances? Can pension funds create an effectively diversified portfolio that delivers diversification benefits when most needed?
