Macro-Economic Update, Inflation & Geopolitical Risks – Asset Allocation Implications

Date:

11 October 2022 15:30 to 20:00

Venue:

Het Slot Zeist, Zinzendorflaan 1, 3703 CE Zeist, Netherlands

Chairperson:

Jaap van Dam, Principal Director of Investment Strategy, PGGM and member of EPFIF Dutch Advisory Committee.

Details:

With 2022 being a volatile year so far and with heightened geopolitical risks on the horizon including with Russia and China, just what should pension funds do to ensure they have a robust portfolio what can deliver the returns they need? We considered the spectre of rising inflation and its implications, especially as the Dutch Pensions systems transitions towards the new contract and strategic asset allocation implications across both traditional, alternatives and real assets. In particular our speakers discussed:

  • The latest macro and geopolitical environment for investing
  • Considering some key risks on the horizon
  • What’s encouraging investors to take more duration risk in today’s environment?
  • Finding opportunities in rates and FX markets in times of dispersion between central bank behaviour and reaction functions
  • Which credit sectors are appropriately priced for this risk and offer attractive spreads?
  • The role of ESG assessment in sovereign bonds
