Belgium Forum Archives

Meetings of the EPFIF Belgium Forum first started in 1998, with the purpose of improving the quality of information available to pension fund managers, leading to the development of more relevant and efficient management, a better understanding of investment processes and eventually, improved performance.

By bringing together pension fund representatives with service providers, robust and objective discussions have become the norm. All members may attend the meetings but a key requirement for all non-pension fund members and speakers is that product or services selling is not permitted.

There are two categories of membership. One for representatives of Pension Funds and similar Institutional Investors such as charities, foundations or other non-commercial organisations. Members include representatives of Belgium, Dutch, French and German Pension Funds as well as other European and multinational companies’ pension funds. The other is open to a limited number of other representatives from the pensions and investment industry.

The Belgium meetings are usually held in May and November at Kasteel Tivoli, Mechelen, Belgium.

The Forum is advised by an Advisory Committee who ensure that the topics being discussed are relevant and helpful.

Edwin Meysmans

Trustee, Euroclear Pension Fund

Edwin was managing director of Pensioenfonds KBC, one of the largest pension funds in Belgium from 1997 to 2017. In that period, the funds assets grew from 500 mio euro to 2 bn euro. In 2007, Pensioenfonds KBC received the IPE award for best European pension fund. Edwin was also vice president of the Belgian Pension Fund Association. Edwin retired and is now an independent trustee on the board of a number of pension funds such as Euroclear, Willis Towers Watson Lifesight and Pensions OFP.

Michiel Aerts

Director EMEA Benefit Investments, Johnson & Johnson

Michiel is Director, EMEA Benefit Investments at Johnson & Johnson. In his role, he is responsible for the investment and funding strategy of J&J’s pension funds and savings plans across the EMEA region and selected APAC markets. Together with his team, he oversees approximately €10 billion in retirement assets.
Michiel serves on the Board and Investment Committee of J&J Pension Fund OFP, one of Belgium’s largest pension funds. He also acts as the appointed investment advisor to J&J’s pension funds in the UK and Switzerland and is a member of Johnson & Johnson’s corporate Benefit Investment Committee and Manager Underwriting Committee.
Before joining Johnson & Johnson in 2017, Michiel worked at Argenta as both Product Manager and Portfolio Manager. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Engineering from KU Leuven and is a CFA Charterholder.

Dante Van Wilderen

Investment Manager, Pensio B

Dante Van Wilderen began his career as an Investment Analyst and has been serving as Investment Manager at Pensio B since early 2025. Pensio B is the pension fund responsible for managing and administering supplementary pensions for both blue-collar and white-collar workers in the Belgian construction sector. He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Brussels and further completed a Master in General Management at Vlerick Business School. During his studies, he was first introduced to the world of asset management and pension funds through an internship at Pensio B under the supervision of Professor Jan Longeval. In his current role, Dante is part of an investment team responsible for managing internal direct investment portfolios, overseeing external asset managers, and coordinating Investment Committee meetings as well as Board of Directors sessions.

Florent Verberckmoes

Senior Advisor Investments, Pensioenfonds Contractuelen VRT

Florent is a Senior Advisor Investments at VRT Pension Funds since 2001 and is based in Brussels. He monitors the asset managers and advises the Board on strategic investment policy. Since 2013 he is a member of the Executive Committee of Pensioenfonds Contractuelen VRT. Before that, he worked in the Insurance business for 6 years. His expertise includes risk management and investment management of institutional investors, such as pension funds. Florent holds a master's degree in finance from the Vlaamse Economische Hogeschool (Vlekho).

Vincent Lantin

Pension Fund Lead, Proximus Group

Vincent joined the Proximus Group in 1995 at the Treasury department where he was responsible for risk management. After three years he joined the Group’s pension team. In 2001, Vincent became Senior Investment Officer, in charge of the equity portfolio and foreign exchange management. Since 2004 Vincent is responsible for the management of the second pillar pension fund within the Group. In 2013 he became Head of Pension Fund. Vincent holds a degree in Foreign Trade from the EPHEC (Brussels), a PhD in economics from the UCL Mons University and a specialisation in derivatives from the IFCA (Brussels). Proximus is the leading Belgian provider of telephony, internet, television and network-based ICT services.
